Oritivox User Guide

Welcome to Oratio, your tool for converting text to speech and recording/editing audio. This guide will help you take advantage of all the features of our app.

Main Features

Text-to-Speech

Convert any written text into spoken audio with different voices and customizable settings.

Audio Recording

Record your voice directly from the browser and apply effects such as pitch, speed, and intensity changes.

How to Use Text-to-Speech

  1. Type or paste the text you want to convert into speech in the text area.
  2. Select your preferred voice from the dropdown menu (we recommend Spanish voices for Spanish text).
  3. Adjust pitch and speed to your preference using the sliders:
    • Pitch: Higher values make the voice sound higher, while lower values make it deeper.
    • Speed: Adjusts how fast the voice speaks (1 is normal speed).
  4. Click "Play" to listen to the text.
  5. You can pause, resume, or stop playback using the corresponding buttons.

Tip: For better results, make sure the text has proper punctuation. Commas and periods help the voice make natural pauses.

How to Use Audio Recording

  1. Click "Start Recording" and grant microphone permissions if prompted by your browser.
  2. Speak clearly into your microphone.
  3. When finished, click "Stop Recording."
  4. You can play back your recording by clicking "Play Recording."

To modify the audio:

  • Adjust speed, pitch, and intensity with the sliders.
  • Click "Apply Effects" to process the audio with your adjustments.
  • Download your modified recording using the "Download Recording" button.

Important: The application works best on modern browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. For audio recording, ensure you grant microphone permissions when prompted.

Additional Tips

  • Try different voices: Each voice has unique characteristics that may work better for different types of text.
  • Export your creations: Recordings can be downloaded for use in presentations, podcasts, or any other project.
  • Experiment with effects: Combine different pitch, tone, and volume settings to create unique and personalized voices.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which browsers are supported by Oratio?

Oratio works best on modern browsers

Oratio works best on the latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. These browsers offer better support for the APIs we use.

What do Oratio and Oritivox mean?

  • Oratio is a word from ancient Latin, meaning "speech".
  • Vox is also a Latin word, meaning "voice".
  • Oritivox is a combination of Oratio and Vox, meaning "speech of voice".

Are my texts or recordings stored on your servers?

No. All processing is done locally on your device. Neither the texts you enter nor the recordings you make are sent to our servers. Generated files are only stored temporarily in your browser and are deleted when you close the page unless you download them.

Why can’t I hear any voice?

This could be due to several reasons:

  • Your device’s sound is muted or set too low.
  • You haven't selected any text to convert to speech.
  • The browser does not have access to system voices (some privacy settings may block this).
  • You are using a browser that is not fully compatible with the APIs we use.

Try updating your browser, checking your sound settings, or testing with a shorter text.

Why isn’t my voice recording correctly?

For a successful recording:

  • Ensure you have granted microphone permissions to the browser.
  • Check that your microphone is working properly (you can test it in your system settings).
  • Speak at an appropriate distance from the microphone (not too close or too far).
  • Try recording in a quiet environment with minimal background noise.

What is the text limit for conversion to speech?

The APIs we use have some limitations that vary by browser, but generally, they work well with texts of up to 5,000 characters. For longer texts, we recommend splitting them into smaller sections.

What audio formats can I download?

Currently, Oratio exports files in WAV format, which is widely compatible with most audio players and editing applications. In the future, we may add more formats like MP3 or OGG.

How can I report a bug or suggest a new feature?

We appreciate your feedback! You can contact us through the "Contact" section in the app. Please describe the issue in as much detail as possible (including the browser and operating system you are using) or explain the new feature you would like to see.
